The narrator remembers preparations more clearly than the gifts. A dated photograph could anchor one Christmas, while the repeated tradition would remain a family recollection. Its importance comes from continuity, not from a claim that every household celebrated alike. Evidence and source treatment A remembered tradition is preserved in the family's own words. Catalogs or photographs can support the date of an object without proving that this family owned it. This is an illustrative excerpt with invented personal circumstances.
